Firefighters from Blue Ridge, West End, Polk, Jackson and Northampton fire companies battled a pool house fire in the 1200 block of Route 115 Thursday around 4:50 p.m.
Residents said their cats got out safely from the pool house, which stored their grandchildren’s pool toys, furniture, tools and other belongings. The pool house is about 20 feet in front of the main residence.
The residents and the neighbor saw the flames and called 911. Fire trucks lined the edge of the roadway, and tankers hauling more water drove down the dirt driveway, and crews began unraveling the hose. Smoke rose out of the roof firefighters battled the blaze.
A section of Route 115 was closed and traffic was detoured. Fire police from Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company directed traffic. Large highway signs along Route 209 warned motorists of the detour.
