Senior Center

The Panther Valley Senior Center announced the menu for Jan. 27-31.

Monday: Stuffed Cabbage, Mashed Potatoes, Carrots, Jell-O or Ham and Cheese Sandwich.

Tuesday: Kielbasa, Potatoes with Peppers, Baked Beans, Orange or Chicken Caesar Salad.

Wednesday: Spaghetti and Meatballs, Broccoli, Salad, Cookie or Roast Beef Sandwich.

Thursday: Grilled Chicken, Red Potatoes, Chuckwagon Corn, Peaches or BBQ Chicken Sandwich.

Friday: Fish Filet, Macaroni and Cheese, Peas and Onions, Fruit Cup or Chicken Ranch Salad.

The senior center also announced the following events:

Movie and Popcorn on Jan. 24 at 10 a.m.

Bingo on Jan. 27 at 10:45 a.m.; St Luke’s Physical Therapy Department will be here on Jan. 28 at 11 a.m.; Horse racing on Jan. 29 at 11 a.m.; Po-Keeno on Jan. 30 at 11 a.m.

Cards, pool and games available daily from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. New members are welcome.

Hometown Hero Banners

The Nesquehoning Veterans Banner program is open for 2025.

If you would like to purchase a new banner, applications are available. Deadline to purchase a new banner is Feb. 5.

Also, if you purchased a banner to be displayed in 2022, 2023 and 2024, you have already been contacted and provided with the renewal information. Deadline for renewals is Jan. 24.

Souper Bowl

Nesquehoning VFW Post 8008 is hosting a Souper Bowl event on Feb. 8.

The event will be held in the VFW social hall from 9 a.m. until sold out. There will be a variety of soups available for purchase as cash and carry items.

Anyone wishing to donate soup for the fundraiser, which will benefit phase 2 of the VFW Memorial Site project, can do so by calling Lois at 570-249-0364 or Abbie at 570-460-3417. The deadline to sign up is Feb. 1.
