Someone dropped off a cat early Friday morning at the mailing address for the Blue Mountain Animal Rescue Society’s foster program.

The Palmerton address is a private residence and does not accept animals. Donna Crum, founder of the rescue society, said the cat was dropped off just after midnight when the temperature was 21 degrees.

The cat and carrier was soaked in urine, and had it not been discovered, Crum said it’s likely the cat would have frozen to death.

She noted that the society’s adoption center is the Blue Mountain Cat Cottage Adoption Center, 128 Brainerd Lane, Building 1, first floor, Stroudsburg.
