Weissport seeks code, zoning, building officers
Weissport Borough Council held its reorganizational meeting before its general meeting Monday evening.
Thomas Ketchledge was reappointed as council president. Joe Foster will continue as vice president.
Aimee Shank will continue as secretary/treasurer, Greg Mouseau was reappointed solicitor, and Mike Muffley of Hanover Engineers will continue as the borough’s engineer.
Council is looking to hire a code enforcement officer and a zoning officer; either two separate people or one person to do both jobs.
Weissport also needs a building code official, but that job can be handled by the state.

Garbage fee collections for December 2024 were $2,534.03. Total for 2024: $74,649.30.
Taxes collected for December 2024 were $2,163.07. Total for 2024: 63,431.22.
Council passed a motion to pay a past due bill to the Central Carbon Municipal Authority.
The Weissport Authority made an agreement with the Weissport Borough to pay the back bill to CCMA of $15,051.57
Council also passed a motion to drop the $100 fee to the municipal authority for use of the rental equipment.
Following an executive session, the Weissport Borough Council voted to rehire Colton Breiner at $12 per hour with a 90-day probationary period subject to conditions that have been previous been agreed to.
Following the hiring of Breiner, council will also now make repairs to a salt spreader, and to make repairs to the bed of the dump truck for it to pass inspection.
