An elderly Monroe County man died after a fire broke out at his home early Wednesday morning.

According to a news release sent out by the Monroe County Coroner’s Office, James Archer, 79, from Pocono Township, was pronounced dead on scene, at 12:23 a.m.

Archer was the only victim.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

The cause and manner of death are currently pending.

Pocono Township Police Department and Pennsylvania State Police fire marshals are conducting their investigation into the fire.
