Monroe commissioners honor retiring warden

The Monroe County commissioners honored Warden Garry Haidle with a certificate during their meeting on Thursday.

Haidle has decided to retire from the Monroe County Correctional Facility, where he has been the warden for the last nine years.

Commissioner Chairman John Christy said, “I am blessed to have the nine years under Garry’s management of the correctional facility and guidance that he has provided both myself and the other commissioners. I would like to say thank you very much.”

They presented a certificate of special recognition to Haidle for a total of 29 years of dedicated service to the Monroe County Correctional Facility since 1995.

Haidle served as corrections officer, sergeant, deputy warden and warden.

Haidle thanked all the commissioners and said, “I’m going to miss everybody. Everybody in the county that assisted, I appreciate that.”

The county plans to hire a new warden. The position has been advertised to people already employed by the county and to the public for outside candidates, Christy said.
