Two Monroe men charged with breaking into home
Two Monroe County men have been charged with breaking into a Chestnuthill Township home.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Justin Vought of the Pennsylvania State Police, Fern Ridge barracks, in the case against Michael Mahoney:
At 6:19 p.m. Dec. 25, Vought was dispatched to the area of the 1300 block of Brian Lane, Chestnuthill Township, for the report of a Protection From Abuse violation.
Vought queried the name of the defendant, Mahoney, 50, and an active Protection From Abuse Order was discovered in which Mahoney is required to stay away from the residence.
Vought observed Mahoney walking toward him from the side of the residence and said that he was at the residence to take care of his dogs and acknowledged that he was not supposed to be there.
Mahoney was placed under arrest for violation of the PFA. Michael Mokshefski, 40, of Blakeslee, was also on scene with Mahoney. The resident told police Mokshefski was the one who opened a rear window to the residence and assisted Mahoney with entering the property.
Police found a large clear plastic bag containing a white powdery substance in Mahoney’s right coat pocket. A blunt containing a small amount of suspected marijuana was also found in the left coat pocket.
The white powdery substance tested positive for amphetamine and the total weight was 80.2 grams.
Mahoney faces charges of burglary, manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, marijuana — small amount personal use, criminal mischief, and criminal trespass.
Mahoney is incarcerated in the Monroe County Prison in lieu of $50,000 monetary bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Thursday before District Judge Colleen Mancuso of Brodheadsville.
Mokshefski faces charges of burglary, criminal mischief, and criminal trespass.
Mokshefski is in the Monroe County Prison in lieu of $20,000 monetary bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Thursday before Mancuso.
