Turnpike crashes

State police at the Pocono barracks reported the following crashes that happened on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike:

• Olga Gordon, 68, of Allentown, was cited after a two-vehicle crash at 7:10 p.m. Dec. 27 on Route 903 at the entrance to the turnpike in Penn Forest Township.

Police said she was driving a 2019 Subaru Impreza on Route 903 when she turned left to enter the turnpike and entered the path of a 2022 Kia Telluride operated by Amy M. Barrett, 46, of Tall Timbers, Maryland, that was northbound at the time.

Police said the Impreza struck the Telluride, causing disabling damage to both vehicles.

Neither the driver, nor five passengers in the Telluride, were injured.

• Meredith L. Fahringer, 23, of Catawissa, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 10:03 p.m. Dec. 26 at mile marker 88.7 in Kidder Township.

Police said she was driving a 2001 Ford Focus southbound when she lost control of it. The car crossed both travel lanes and struck an embankment and mile marker sign.

• Skylar V. Sanchez, 22, of Bloomfield, New Jersey, was cited for careless driving after a one-vehicle crash at 6:59 p.m. Dec. 24 at mile marker 71.7 in East Penn Township. He was uninjured in the incident.

Police said he was driving a 2016 Subaru Impreza northbound when he lost control, slid through the grass median and across both southbound lanes before hitting a guide rail.

The car was towed from the scene, police said.

• Jason P. Dionisio, 34, of Abington, was uninjured when the 2023 Mazda he was driving struck a deer at 10:15 a.m. Dec. 24.

The crash occurred as he was northbound at mile marker 78.6 in Franklin Township. The vehicle was towed from the scene, police said.

• Jillian R. McGowan, 31, and a 1-year-old boy, both from Harleysville, were transported by personnel from the Northern Valley Ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township, after a crash at 9:14 a.m. Dec. 24 at mile marker 67.1 in Washington Township.

Police said McGowan was driving a 2022 Toyota RAV4 northbound when it left the roadway and struck a mile post sign. A 2024 Peterbilt operated by Jacob J. Kieffer, 28, of Hartford City, Indiana, subsequently drove over the sign after it flew into its lane, police said.

McGowan was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, police said.

• Michael F. Kelly, 59, of Philadelphia, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 12:25 p.m. Dec. 11 at mile marker 76.6 in Franklin Township.

Police said he was driving a 2010 Honda CRV southbound when he lost control of it and it struck a concrete barrier. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
