The Parkland High School boys basketball team played its final Eastern Pennsylvania Conference game of the calendar year, three days after the original scheduled date because of inclement weather. The Trojans ended up on the wrong side of the game, but will have a chance to take some positive momentum into 2025 with a holiday tournament this weekend.
Parkland fell behind by double digits in the second quarter and made a comeback attempt, but fell just short, losing to Central Catholic 53-47 Monday afternoon at Parkland High School. The game was originally scheduled to be played last Friday.
The Vikings led 14-8 after the opening quarter and then went ahead 31-16 at halftime. Parkland began to fight back and outscored Central 17-9 in the third quarter to pull to within 40-33, but could not make it all the way back.
Cameron Hines and Blake Nassry both finished with 10 points for Parkland. Jude Ruisch tallied eight points and TJ Lawrence and Tyler Beck netted six points each. Javian Porter totaled four points and Scott Bauer added three points to round out the scoring for the Trojans.
The Vikings were led by a game-high 26 points from Lucas Mushrush.
Parkland (3-4 overall, 2-4 EPC) will play in the Widener Holiday Tournament at Widener University this weekend with two games on Saturday and Monday. The Trojans will take on Friends Select on Saturday and then will play Penncrest on Monday.
