A historic season for Northwestern’s football program continued Friday with the release of the Pa. Football Writers’ All-State Teams.
Just like they did on their unprecedented run to a state title, the Tigers made their presence felt with five selections on the Class 3A Team.
Running back Eli Zimmerman was named 3A Player of the Year, while Josh Snyder earned Coach of the Year honors, capping a spectacular fall for a Northwestern team that went 16-0 and defeated Avonworth 36-33 in overtime to win the state championship.
In addition to Zimmerman (running back), who scored the game-winning TD in overtime, the Tigers’ stellar defense was well represented with Bryer Reichard (defensive line), Shane Hulmes (linebacker), Brady Zimmerman (linebacker), as well as Mason Bollinger (athlete) earning 3A All-State honors.
Palmerton’s Logan Anthony (offensive line) was also selected to the 3A All-State Team, while Marian’s Michael Gelatko (tight end) earned 1A All-State honors.
Check out Saturday’s Times News for a full story on each of the all-state selections.
