Michelle Allen, principal of the Carbon Career & Technical Institute in Jim Thorpe, discussed a new program being offered to CCTI students.
Lehigh Carbon Community College, via support from a PPL Foundation Empowering Communities grant, will station its Mobile Manufacturing Lab at CCTI for a four-week advanced engineering class.
Sixteen students will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on learning and become familiarized with careers in manufacturing, guiding them toward specific pathways in engineering.
The lab is equipped with industry-standard machinery and technology, including electromechanical trainers; control logic simulators; AC/DC systems; electric motor controls; and laser shaft alignment and vibration analysis instruments.
It is designed to replicate a real-world manufacturing setting, providing participants with hands-on experience and practical training in various aspects of manufacturing and industrial automation.
“CCTI and the Panther Valley School District are two local schools that will be participating in the pilot program this year,” Allen said. “This class at CCTI will run from March 31 through April 25.”
