Nesquehoning Borough Council

Nesquehoning Borough Council approved or discussed the following items during its monthly meeting last week:

• Approved increasing the annual payment to the three fire companies from $2,500 to $3,000.

• One application for police sergeant was received and is moving forward for approval. The application was put in by officer Carl Breiner.

• Councilman Bruce Nalesnik announced that the East Diaz Street water runoff project has been completed.

• Council asked that any child who plans to offer shoveling services during the winter months to send their contact information to the borough. At the request of a resident, council is putting together a list that could be handed out if someone asks for who is shoveling snow.

• Approved the resignation of Joseph Pilla from the Nesquehoning Water Authority, effective Dec. 31. Council is now accepting letters of interest to fill the vacancy on that board. Letters are being accepted until Jan. 22. The term is for five years.
