Carbon LVHN president retiring

Christine Biege, the inaugural president of Lehigh Valley Hospital–Carbon, will retire on Dec. 31, according to an announcement from the Lehigh Valley Health Network.

Jamie Stover, spokesperson for LVHN, commended Beige’s contributions to the organization.

“We recognize Chris for her service to LVHN, in particular, Lehigh Valley Hospital–Carbon, where she has been instrumental in its success,” Stover said. “We thank her for all she has done for our health network, patients, and community and wish her well in retirement.”

Terry Purcell, LVHN Northwest Regional President, will take on leadership responsibilities for LVH–Carbon in addition to his existing roles.

Biege has served as LVH–Carbon’s president since the hospital opened in June 2022. Her leadership spanned several initiatives; including a $12 million expansion project that added a new intensive care unit and an upgraded medical-surgical unit at the hospital to enhance both inpatient and outpatient care.

Prior to her role at LVH–Carbon, Biege held leadership positions within LVHN and Coordinated Health. She was Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services at LVHN–Coordinated Health, overseeing 23 operating and surgical procedure rooms as well as all clinical services.

Biege joined Coordinated Health in January 2017 as Vice President of Patient Care Services, continuing in that role after Coordinated Health became part of LVHN in December 2019.
