Blaze destroys Mahoning home

A GoFundMe has been started for a Mahoning Township family who lost everything after a fire decimated their home Saturday morning.

The fire broke out around 9:15 a.m. at a mobile home at 285 Lower Nis Hollow Drive, Lot 17.

Glenn Keiser, who lived in the mobile home, organized a GoFundMe.

The fund has a $9,500 goal.

“My partner and I just lost everything due to a fire,” Keiser said. “Not only did we lose all our clothing and personal belongings, but we lost two dogs in this fire, we lost all our money and only have the clothes on our backs.”

Keiser said he has two kids, one who is 6 years old, “who I now won’t be able to get any presents for.”

The Red Cross assisted them with a hotel stay.

“We know Christmas is right around the corner but truly anything would help us get a warm place to stay.”

Mahoning Valley fire Chief Mark Ebbert said that firefighters were dispatched for a working house fire, and that upon arrival, it was fully involved.

Ebbert said no one was home at the time, however, two dogs perished in the fire.

He said the fire was knocked down within 20 minutes, but added the home was a total loss.

Ebbert said no other trailers were damaged.

He said the cause of the fire is undetermined and being investigated by a state police fire marshal.

Ebbert said firefighters were on scene for about two hours.

He said also assisting at the scene were the East Penn Township Fire Department, Bowmanstown Fire Department with a tanker, and Mahoning Valley Ambulance.
