Allentown woman charged with conspiring to kill Palmerton man
Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan and Whitehall Police Chief Michael Marks announced a second arrest in the death of Hector Garcia Gomez of Palmerton.
Liz Pacheco, 37, of Allentown, has been charged with multiple felonies, including criminal homicide, conspiracy to commit criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and conspiracy to commit aggravated assault. She also faces misdemeanor charges of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and obstruction of law enforcement.
Pacheco was arraigned on Dec. 20 and is currently being held in Lehigh County Prison without bail. She is accused of being involved in the killing of Gomez, 46, who was fatally shot on Dec. 7 in the parking lot of Loco Hot Deals, located at 1155 MacArthur Road.
Officers responding to the scene found Garcia Gomez with multiple gunshot wounds to his abdomen. He was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, where he later died from his injuries. The Lehigh County coroner ruled his death a homicide, citing multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.
According to investigators, “video surveillance footage showed Garcia Gomez arriving at the store’s parking lot in a vehicle. While he went inside the store, his wife remained in the car. As Garcia Gomez exited the store and approached his vehicle, a suspect’s vehicle parked behind him. Gunshots were then fired at Garcia Gomez from inside the suspect’s vehicle.”
Further investigation, according to a news release, revealed that Pacheco was in communication with her former partner, Christian Martinez-Ramos, who was previously charged in connection with the killing. Authorities allege that the two discussed plans to locate and kill Garcia Gomez. After the shooting, Pacheco reportedly assisted with the sale of the vehicle used during the crime.
Whitehall Township Police Detective Lindsay Yetter, as well as detectives from the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force, including James Bruchak, Timothy Salgado and Amaury Almonte, are handling the case. Senior Deputy District Attorney James A. Augustine will prosecute the case.
Pacheco’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. on Thursday.
