Jim Thorpe’s newest fire engine, a $26,000 pumper, was dedicated over the weekend at the Fairview Hose Company.

The keys to the truck were presented to Assistant Fire Chief Gary Solt by Jack Huber, chairman of the public service committee of the Jim Thorpe Borough Council.

The new truck represents the first piece of new equipment for the fire department in the past 19 years.

It is a 1,000-gallon pumper that was purchased from the American LaFrance Company and replaces a 1946 Seagraves pumper.

Fairview company President Charles McTague presented the borough a $10,000 to help pay for the truck
