Walker contacting company about line painting issue

Walker Township officials are in contact with Road Safe Traffic Systems of Hazleton, the company that was awarded the bid to do line painting on the township roads.

According to the township supervisors, some areas where lines were painted on the streets were not done satisfactorily.

On some roads, the new lines did not adhere to the road and peeled away. In some sections, the new lines faded already and the old lines were visible.

Officials are working with Road Safe to determine their next course of action.

New England Fire Company member Chad Felty reported that for November 2024, the fire company responded to eight calls.

Felty also reported that the Burger Night fundraiser on Nov. 27 was successful.

Felty advised the township supervisors that the fire company ordered the dry hydrant equipment.

“We are working with Pa Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to see if we can get some federal AFG grant money to help pay for some of those supplies,” Felty said.

A dry hydrant allows firefighters to tap a reliable water source like a lake, pond, or stream, to fight a fire without using a traditional fire hydrant.
