Walnutport residents are in luck: They won’t see an increase in next year’s municipal tax rate.

Borough council on Thursday unanimously adopted the 2025 budget with no tax increase that leaves the millage rate at 20.25 mills.

In a related matter, council agreed to transfer the remaining balance of American Rescue Funds in the amount of $27,292 to the general fund to offset police overtime.

“We’re still continuing to do our best to provide 24/7 coverage,” Wentz said. “We had an exorbitant amount of overtime.”

After the meeting, Wentz said the amount of overtime was $66,000.

Last month, borough council advertised next year’s spending plan with a half-mill increase. That would have raised the millage rate from 20.25 to 20.75 mills.
