Lehigh Twp. swears in police officer

Lehigh Township has added a 12th police officer to its ranks.

On Tuesday night Officer Anthony Stinemire was sworn in by District Magistrate Robert A. Hawke at the Lehigh Township Board of Supervisors meeting.

He is the third officer the township put through the Police Academy.

Stinemire graduated from DeSales University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.

He has worked in Lehigh County Adult Probation/Parole, Lehigh County, Central Booking and instructs in Controlled Tactics.

“I am so very happy to have this opportunity to serve the township,” Stinemire said,

In other business:

• Public Works was approved to bid on a used four-post heavy duty truck lift, not to exceed $16,000.

• The board removed the temporary burn ban.

• Amended parking requirements for medical marijuana facilities.

• Approved a quote for decommission of underground fuel system for $12,900.

• Approved $17,000 for a proposal from Safe City for Policy and Procedure Study to review police policies.
