Tamaqua Hunger Campaign organizer Paul Dodson presents a check to the Rev. Rick Clemson representing the American Primitive Methodist Food Pantry. With Dodson and Clemson are other Hunger Campaign check recipients, Katie Arnold, Stokes Ministries; the Rev. Darryl Kensinger, Trinity UCC; and Arlene Derr, Zion Evangelical Lutheran. With the recipients are campaign planners George Taylor, Judy Hoppes, Glenn Fritzinger and Paulette Lacrosse. Maureen Donovan and Micah Gursky are also members of the planning team. The monthlong campaign exceeded its $18,000 goal and distributed $22,000 and over 100 bags and 25 boxes of food to the community food pantries. The campaign included a soup sale that raised $2,793. Over 100 walkers participated in this year’s Hunger Walk and raised $7,253. Three Tamaqua area restaurants — The Beacon Diner, Two Kings and Tommy’s — participated in the Dine Out Against Hunger Nights and raised $730. The Station Restaurant donated two soups to the soup sale. The Tamaqua Hunger Campaign is a project of the Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship network, a nonprofit group of lay leaders from community congregations operating under the umbrella of the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership.
