The Nesquehoning Historical Society will host its annual Christmas Presentation featuring musician Dave Matsinko and historian Vince Hydro two times this month.
The first will take place at 6 p.m. on Monday, while the second will take place at 1 p.m. on Dec. 14 at the society museum.
A special visit during the presentation will be the Pastyri from St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church of Nesquehoning, demonstrating the religious heritage of the church celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
Dave Matsinko’s performance will include selections on various acoustic instruments of music reflecting the heritage of our local area; including sing-alongs. Vince Hydro will display images of Christmas from days gone by including:
• Traveling Christmas musicians, the Jaslickari, Pastyri and Tamburitzans
• Mauch Chunk’s Dr. B.S. Erwin and his Christmas Putz
• Mauch Chunk’s Happy Sam and his Christmas Tree
These events will take place at the NHS Museum, 157 W. Railroad St. There is parking available in the large lot located next to the museum.
This event is open to the public free of charge, although donations to the Historical Society are welcome.
