Lehighton has bid farewell to two long-standing employees.

After a one-hour-and-35-minute executive session, borough council on a 5-0 vote on Monday accepted the retirement of Light & Power Supervisor Lonny Armbruster.

Council also accepted the retirement of Karen Reichard, police administrative manager.

Both of their retirements are effective Dec. 13.

Council then agreed to advertise for a replacement for Reichard. She has served the police department for 37 1/2 years.

Armbruster served the borough for 40 1/2 years.

Councilman John Kreitz was absent.
