TOPS meeting
The Kresgeville unit of TOPS (Take off Pounds Sensibly) meets at 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday at Salem-St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Post 927 meeting
The West End Memorial American Legion is hosting its December general meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Anyone with questions can contact Danny Insalata. Guests are welcome, but only “A” members can vote on motioned items.
Karaoke Night is 7-11 p.m. Friday. Guests may come, but only with a member. Susan VanWhy is to be featured.
Advent Series
The Rev. Robert Simon, Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, will lead Advent series events at three different times: tonight and Dec. 11 and 18. Each date there will be two times to enjoy the program and discussion: 10 a.m.-noon for coffee and treats, or 6-8 p.m. for dinner.
PV School Board
The Pleasant Valley School Board reorganization meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the new auditorium at the high school, 1671 Route 209, Brodheadsville.
PVEN donations
The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network sent a request for donations in the Giving Tuesday program on Dec. 3. Although that notice came in too late for the “multiplication” event, the PVEN can use any gifts to support its six different ministries: Food Pantry, Clothing Closet, Diaper Pantry, Menstrual Hygiene Pantry, Summer Meals Program and Holiday Toy Program.

Medicare enrollment
Underway since Oct. 15, Medicare enrollment continues through Saturday. Call the Monroe County Area Agency on Aging at 570-420-3735 for more information.
Adoration help
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, reminds parishioners that on Friday and Saturday there is an opportunity to participate in the 24-hour Adoration. Contact church secretary M. Krzan on how to sign up.

Operation: Touch of Home will meet at the Gilbert Legion at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
PVI Toy Drive
The Pleasant Intermediate School is holding a Toys for Tots Toy Drive through Dec. 12.
Donations can be dropped in the Toys for Tots collection bin in the main hallway.
Legion Auxiliary
Auxiliary Unit 927 will hold its monthly meeting at American Legion Post Home in Gilbert at 7 p.m. Dec. 11.
NFL Football
This Sunday the American Legion in Gilbert will host NFL Football, an open to community event. It begins at 1 p.m. For more details, call 610-681-5838 or visit the Special Events tab on the post’s website.
Gifts due now
The Giving Tree at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, began several weeks ago. Angel Tags, sneakers, socks and underwear tags will benefit local children in need through the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network.
Senior male and female tags in yellow are for homebound and nursing home residents from the parish, while red tags are for children in need in the parish.
Gifts should be placed under the Giving Tree before Friday and should be unwrapped with a tag securely attached.
This year, Effort UMC has 40 “angels” that it is supporting through the PVEN.
Anyone who took an “angel” is reminded to bring the unwrapped gifts back to the church with the child’s number on the gift(s) no later than Saturday.
The church representative must have the gifts delivered to the PVEN between 8 a.m.-noon on Dec. 9.
Knit & Crochet
Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, has a Knit & Crochet group. Members meet at 1 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month to make their fingers do good works.
Prayer Shawl
Effort UMC’s Prayer Shawl group meets at 10:30 a.m. the third Tuesday of the month through 1 p.m.
Brotherhood event
Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, will hold its Brotherhood men’s breakfast at 9 a.m. Saturday.
On Sunday, the Couples Ministry is meeting at 5 p.m., with the focus “Love Like you Mean it.”

Nature walk
Salem-St. Paul, Kresgeville, continues its Nature Walk program with a scheduled walk at Chestnuthill Township Park on Saturday. Those attending will leave the church at 10:30 a.m.
In case of inclement weather, the walk will be held Dec. 14.
Old Time Christmas
Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm is hosting its 34th annual Old Time Christmas this weekend and also Dec. 14 and 15.
The event includes a live Nativity, carols in the schoolhouse, Christmas tales of yore, Pennsylvania German holiday traditions, including a visit from the Belschnikle, handcrafted holiday gifts and tasty baked treats.

Family Christmas
Effort UMC will hold a Family Christmas celebration at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
The children will be portraying the Christmas Story in the sanctuary. Santa, Rudolph and a few of their winter friends may join in the celebration in Wesley Hall after dinner.
Christmas carols, music and even some trivia may be included in the event.
Sign-up is requested as Wesley Hall can only seat 125 people.

K’town Christmas
St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ is hosting a Kunkletown Christmas at the church at 6 p.m. Saturday, with its choir and more, “to celebrate the holidays.”
Candle lighting
Salem-St. Paul Church, Kresgeville, will celebrate Holy Communion on Sunday at its 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. services with the lighting of its Peace Candle.
At 4 p.m., the Polk Township tree lighting ceremony will take place at the Polk Township Veterans memorial at Adams Faith Garden at the church. It will include crafts, stories, food, letters to Santa, special guests and more.
Methodist Mission
Effort UMC’s Mission Committee is sponsoring the United Methodist Committee on Relief by filling 16 cleaning buckets. Items that are needed this month are 36-50 clothes pins.
There are buckets in front of the Welcome Center for donations.
Christmas caroling
Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, will be going out to do some Christmas caroling, beginning at 11:30 a.m. after the Sunday morning worship services.
Church meeting
St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ, Kunkletown, will hold its annual congregational meeting during the Sunday worship service. Important information about St. Matthew’s and a vote for new council members and the 2025 budget will be part of the meeting. In addition, the results of the church assessment will be presented.
Community supper
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, is holding a Community Sunday Supper at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
AA meetings
Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, hosts Alcoholics Anonymous meetings at 7:30 p.m. Mondays. McMichaels United Methodist Church, Saylorsburg, also hosts AA meetings, but at 4 p.m. Wednesdays and 6 p.m. Saturdays.

Area churches are reminded that the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network board will meet at 10 a.m. Dec. 12.
Input wanted
Eldred Township continues to review options for uses of township property, the Smale property, adjacent to the Stone Arch Bridge property, and its structure. Should the structure be removed or retained? And, if retained, how can it be used?
Deadline for input is Dec. 13.

The Supplemental Food Resource Center at Effort UMC can use donations of canned goods, including stew, meat and pasta.
Christmas display
The Ross Township Historical Society Museum will celebrate the yuletide season with a special Christmas display featuring ornaments, greeting cards and other items from yesteryear, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Dec. 14.
Light refreshments will be provided at no cost. There is no charge for admission and all are welcome to view photographs, artifacts and items specific to historical Ross Township at 258 Anchorage Road, Saylorsburg.

Christmas pageant
St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ, Kunkletown is having its annual Christmas pageant during the church service on Dec. 15.
All that is needed are the children and baby Jesus. Practices are set for 9 a.m. Sunday, during church, and from 6-8 p.m. during Family, Faith and Fun Night on Friday.
Christmas lights
Operation: Touch of Home is asking people to save the date of Dec. 15, because that is when the Kindred family has designated the group as the respective nonprofit all-volunteer organization of choice for this year’s Christmas lights event. Donations can be dropped off when people drive by or stop in to see the lights.
Santa will be there as well, with cookies and hot chocolate.
The location is 137 Pleasant Lane, Brodheadsville, off Route 115, second right. Follow the star is the suggestion.
Christmas dinner
Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, is hoping to host a free drive-thru Community Christmas Dinner on Dec. 25. However, help is needed with the groceries for the event, including hams, turkeys, stuffing bread cubes (not boxed stuffing mix, please,) apples, oranges, individual applesauce servings, dinner rolls, cranberry sauce and desserts, such as cakes or pies.
