State police at Fern Ridge
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following incidents:
• Viera Bush, 63, of Stroudsburg, is facing charges after a theft by deception incident involving fraudulent drug prescriptions.
She is charged with two counts of acquiring or obtaining possession of a controlled substance and three counts each of identity theft and criminal use of a communications facility.
Police said they were called to the 500 block of Marion Lane, Chestnuthill Township, at 12:39 p.m. Nov. 14 to investigate a suspicious pharmacy prescription.
During the investigation, it was determined that Bush, pretending to be from a doctor’s office, successfully called in two fraudulent prescriptions for controlled substances, one at the Giant Store in Bartonsville, the other at the Rite Aid Pharmacy in Brodheadsville.
Police said the Rite Aid prescription was flagged and police were notified, resulting in Bush’s arrest.
• Police are investigating the theft of items from two utility trucks at 619 Dairy Lane, Chestnuthill Township.
The theft was reported at 6:36 a.m. Nov. 21. Police were told someone damaged the doors of a utility box and stole a utility light bar, leaf blower, static rope and pole saw head, with a total value of $900.
The vehicles entered were a 2017 International Coach and a 2022 Freightliner.
• Police are investigating the theft of a vehicle that was stolen between 10 p.m. Nov. 16 and 11 a.m. Nov. 17 in Chestnuthill Township.
They said a gray 2001 Mazda MPV was taken from the parking area of the Mount Effort Plaza at 316 Route 115.
• A 62-year-old Saylorsburg woman reported a theft by deception incident at 11:27 a.m. Nov. 20 on West View Road, Chestnuthill Township.
She told police a credit card account was opened in her name.
