Shankweiler’s Drive-In Theatre will be teaming up with local filmmaker Daniel Roebuck to premiere his new holiday feature, “Saint Nick of Bethlehem” beginning Thursday. The film also serves as the kick-off to the drive-in’s third year of holiday matinees starting on Saturday.
Since 2022, Shankweiler’s Drive-In Theatre has offered holiday matinee screenings throughout the month of December, with showtimes beginning at 5 p.m. (contrasting with the 9 p.m. showtimes during the height of summer).
Directed and produced by Spencer Folmar and Roebuck, “Saint Nick of Bethlehem” is about a man who copes with the loss of his son by finding new purpose as Santa Claus.
The film was shot throughout the Lehigh Valley and central Pennsylvania in the winter of 2023-24.
The film will screen as the first feature from Dec. 5-8, followed by “Wicked.” Showtimes will begin at 7 p.m. on Dec. 5 and 6, with the special matinee screening of 5 p.m. on Dec. 7 and 8.
Tickets are available on the theater’s website and at the box office on night-of-show. Additional matinee films will be announced in the coming weeks on the theater’s website and social media.
