R.W. Fritzinger VFW Post 7215 Auxiliary of Walnutport held its 22nd annual food giveaway last week. Five families were chosen from the area.

Karen Bandzi, the president of the auxiliary, and Michele Minnich, the senior vice president, collected food and monetary donations from Country Harvest Market in Palmerton and Redner’s in Northampton.

“The response from the public was just wonderful,” Bandzi said. “They were able to collect enough monetary donations to buy a turkey and a ham for each family. To go along with that came all the fixings for a great Thanksgiving Meal and more. The smiles are just wonderful from all the families and they are so appreciative of our generosity.”

The organization’s next event will be a Christmas party on Dec. 21 for the grandchildren of the veterans.
