November 30, 2002 — Walter Johnson explodes for a career-high 37 points to power Jim Thorpe to a 76-55 victory over Moravian Academy in its season opener. After the Olympians, coached by Scott Kmetz, jump out to a 10-point first-quarter lead, Johnson tallies 11 points in the second quarter to help Thorpe increase its advantage. Johnson hits for 11 more in the third frame as the winners maintain a double-digit margin. The Olympians, who shoot 21-of-29 at the free throw line, also receive 12 points from Kaseen Boston and 10 from Tim Robinson.
