State police at Fern Ridge - crashes

State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following crashes:

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 5:13 p.m. Nov. 3 at the intersection of Poplar Crossing Road and Shane Drive in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said the crash occurred when Marissa N. Klein, 28, of Effort, driving a 2013 Ford Explorer west on Shane Drive attempted to make a left turn onto Poplar Crossing Road and struck a 2017 Hyundai Sonata operated by Tracey A. Gesell, 63, also of Effort.

The Explorer had to be towed from the scene.

Klein was cited after the crash, police said.

• Jesse J. Boring, 32, of Blakeslee, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 9:50 p.m. Nov. 2 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.

Police said he was transported by personnel from the West End Fire & Rescue Squad to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township. They said the severity of his injuries is unknown.

Police said he was driving a 2016 Subaru Impreza northbound when it crossed the southbound lane and shoulder, crashing through a guide rail before overturning. They said the driver and large amount of U.S. currency were ejected from the vehicle through the sunroof of the car, which came to rest on its passenger side.

Boring was cited after the crash, police said.

• Azanoush W. Cooper, 46, of Moscow, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after a one-vehicle crash at 10:09 p.m. on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township. He was uninjured.

Police said he was driving a 2015 Toyota Tundra northbound when a deer entered the roadway and was struck by the truck. It sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

• Devin M. Cook, 37, of Stroudsburg, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after a one-vehicle crash at 4:06 a.m. Nov. 17 on the Neola Road, Jackson Township.

Police said he was driving a 2021 Mazda 3 southbound when it failed to maintain its lane of travel. It drove off the right side of the road and struck a fence before coming to rest against a tree.

The car was towed from the scene.

Police said Cook showed signs of impairment and was administered field sobriety tests. They also said he refused medical treatment.

• Police said a passenger in a car that struck a deer on Interstate 80 in Tobyhanna Township at 12:55 a.m. 17 had suspected minor injuries.

Magdalena P. Castro, 43, of Jamaica, New York, refused a medical transport, police said.

The crash happened when Hilario J. Castroacosta, 34, also of Jamaica, driving a 2018 Honda Accord, was eastbound when it struck the deer. The car was towed from the scene.

• Nancy Schulze, 59, of Saylorsburg, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after a one-vehicle crash at 10:59 p.m. Nov. 13 at the intersection of Bartonsville Woods Road and Pine Woods Court, Jackson Township. She was uninjured in the incident.

Police said she was driving a 2021 Hyundai Accent on Bartonsville Woods Road when it failed to negotiate a left-hand curve in the road. The car traveled off the north side of the road and hit a tree. It was towed from the scene.

Police said Schulze showed signs of impairment and was administered field sobriety tests.

• Nicole M. Neubauer, 44, of Jim Thorpe, sustained suspected serious injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 7 p.m. Oct. 13 on Wild Creek Road, Penn Forest Township.

Police said she was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem.

They said she was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Trail Blazer west when she failed to negotiate a right curve. The vehicle traveled off the left shoulder and went into the front yard at 138 Wild Creek Road, striking a boulder, landscaping and trees.

Police said Neubauer was flown from the scene. She was cited after the crash, police said.

The vehicle was towed.

• Matthew A. DeSouza, 27, of Wharfon, New Jersey, was unhurt in a one-vehicle crash at 6:28 a.m. Nov. 15 on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.

Police said he was driving a 2016 Honda Civic eastbound when it hit a deer that attempted to cross the roadway.

The car was towed from the scene.

• Nicholas Perez, 21, of Atlanta, Georgia, was uninjured in a one-vehicle crash at 7:16 a.m. Nov. 4 on Interstate 80 in Tunkhannock Township.

Police said he was driving a 2011 Hyundai Sonata eastbound when it traveled off the left shoulder of the road, went down an embankment and rolled over. The car was towed from the scene.

Perez was cited after the crash, police said.
