Profits from the Marian Fillies’ volleyball team’s Dig Pink Night event held recently were donated by the team’s members to local Geisinger Cancer Clinics.

The funds were raised through T-shirt sales and raffles that took place at a recent home game at Marian.

Allison Malusky, R.N., nurse supervisor for the Geisinger clinics in Hazleton and Pottsville, accepted the donation.

“The diagnosis of cancer brings a lot of uncertainty and financial strains to someone going through treatment, and the clinics in Hazleton and Pottsville are very appreciative of this donation,” Malusky said. “The clinics will purchase gift cards to present to the patients with a special note to spread some holiday cheer at this stressful time.”
