Bruce Leonard Krasley, a teacher in the Jim Thorpe Junior High School, was named assistant principal of the Tamaqua Area High School on a 5-0 vote by the district’s board of directors.

Krasley, who is presently the head of the social studies department at the Jim Thorpe school, will fill the post vacated by Jeffrey J. James, who accepted a principal’s post with Jim Thorpe.

Krasley, who hopes to begin his new duties on Dec. 1, has been an assistant football coach at Tamaqua for the past two seasons and previously served as a coach in Jim Thorpe for 12 years, including seven as the head mentor.

He prepared for his principal’s certificate at East Stroudsburg and Penn State universities, completing the program this summer at the latter’s University Park campus.
