Tamaqua police said they charged Cayliaann Berk, 24, of Tamaqua, with simple assault and harassment after she hit a man on the head with a frying pan on Nov. 9.
According to police, officers were called to a domestic disturbance on Lafayette Street at 1:05 p.m. and spoke to a man, who said that Berk had struck him with the pan.
Berk told police that she and the man were arguing and that she smashed his Legos.
Police spoke to the man and saw a 1.5-inch cut on the back of his head. Based on the location, police said it was unlikely that it was a result of self-defense.
Berk was arraigned and released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for 11:10 a.m. Nov. 26 before Magisterial District Judge Stephen J. Bayer, court papers say.
