Washington Twp. remembers planning commission member
Washington Township Supervisors Chairman Josh Friebolin took a moment last week to remember Paul Krepiez, long time resident and was a planning commission member, who died Oct. 7.
Krepiez was a volunteer to the township for whatever they needed.
“He was a great asset to the township for more than 40 years,” Friebolin said.
The supervisors approved Northern Lehigh School District’s request to use Eagles Nest softball fields for the 2025 season while new fields are put in at the school. The district will do all needed maintenance of the fields.
Evan Heess, of Christmas Lane, was granted permission to have Christmas Lane one-way from 6 to 9 p.m. on Dec. 14 for his annual “Santa Comes to Christmas Lane.”
Heess is looking for monetary and candy donations. He thanked the township fire companies in advance for all their help with putting up lights.
Heess said, “It is a drive through event. Last year, we had 500 to 700 cars come to see Santa. There will be at least 70,000 lights.”
Tony Montanuari gave a donation of $300 to the Slatedale Fire Company. A letter from Northern Valley Ambulance requested a donation to help with the purchase of power stairs to assist with patients and EMS providers in transport situations in the amount of $27,772. The supervisors will discuss it.
A new 5-year cable franchise with Blue Ridge Communications was approved.
The proposed budget for 2025 will be advertised for one month.
The supervisors approved to advertise for a part-time snowplow driver.
Resident Jeff Hausman came to the meeting to find out if his neighbor on Welshtown Road is being cited for burning garbage in his yard. There is a burn ban in Washington Township.
Friebolin said, “Yes they are being cited each time they light a fire.”
