Tamaqua Borough Council took a number of actions during its recent meeting, including:
• Appointed Thomas Schlorf to a 5-year term on the zoning hearing board beginning on Jan. 1. He had been serving as an alternate member.
• Approved the Tamaqua Fire Police’s request to hold a food drive on Nov. 16.
• Approved Coaldale Borough Council’s request asking for a letter of endorsement so it can apply for a grant for streetlights and lights on Route 209.
• Approved a proposal from C&V Construction, Tamaqua, to replace the roof at the fire training area at a cost of $7,000.
• Approved a handicapped parking space application for 404 W. Spruce St.
