Marian reelects Pat Reilly at board chairman

Patrick Reilly, P ’98, ’02, ’11 of Jim Thorpe will once again serve as chairman of the board of directors for Marian Catholic High School for the 2024-25 school year.

Reilly’s leadership comes at an important time as Marian continues to work on a new strategic vision focused on preserving and re-imaging Catholic education in Schuylkill, Carbon, and Luzerne counties for generations.

“I am humbled to share that I have been elected as board chair for the 2024-25 school year at Marian Catholic High School. It is truly an honor to work alongside our dedicated board and represent them in this capacity. Our mission remains focused on ensuring that student success is at the forefront of all our decision-making processes,” said Reilly.

Michael Brennan ’06, the head of school, expressed his gratitude for Reilly’s dedication and expertise in finance and planning over the past two decades.

“Pat’s efforts have significantly contributed to the financial health of Marian, putting us in a strong position for the future. Together, we share a vision for the school and are committed to providing exceptional opportunities for our students,” Brennan noted.

Dave Bielen ’69, P ’91, GP ’24 of Tamaqua, vice chair of the board, emphasized his belief in the value of Catholic education and the importance of a faith-filled learning environment.

“I am privileged to serve alongside such an extraordinary board and look forward to contributing to the continued success of Marian Catholic High School,” said Bielen.

In addition to Reilly and Bielen, other officers for the 2024-25 school year are Sr. Rose Mulligan, IHM ’84 of Immaculata as secretary, and Bill Stulginsky ’69 of Newton Square as treasurer. Committee Chairs are Leo Marzen ’79, Governance and Nominating Committee; Bill Stulginsky ’69, Finance Committee; Larry Furey ’79, Advancement Committee; Dave Bielen, Facilities Committee; and Patrick Boyle ’03, Enrollment Management Committee.

New directors

Marian Catholic High School also announced the election of two new directors — Shannon Boyle Pietrak ’95 of Houston, Texas; and Kathy Reinhart Goff ’87, P ’20, ’23 of Jim Thorpe.

Boyle Pietrak is a 1995 graduate of Marian and a 1999 graduate of Villanova University with a degree in chemical engineering. She is a senior business auditor for BP PLC and resides in Houston with her husband, Mark, and their two children. Shannon is the daughter of John ’71 and Kathleen Boyle of Hometown and is one of five Boyle children to graduate from Marian — Meghan ’98, John ’02, Patrick ’03 and Meredith ’06.

Goff, a member of the Class of 1987, is a paraprofessional for the Lehighton Area School District. Kathy graduated cum laude from Kutztown University in 1991 with a BA in English. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Education from Wilkes University. She and her husband Jim, are the parents of two Marian graduates, Nicholas, Class of 2020, and Jenna, Class of 2023. Kathy’s mother, Mary Ann (Watto) Reinhart, is a 1963 graduate of Mauch Chunk Catholic High School.

Marian Catholic High School is a Catholic secondary school under the ownership of the Diocese of Allentown and is governed by the board of directors.

Robert Finlan, Furey, Goff, Dan La Bert, John Lavelle, Esq., Marzen, Maria Montero, Sr. Rose Mulligan, Erin O’Gurek, Esq., Shannon Boyle Pietrak, Jim Sauka, Leo Schilling, Ashley Shickora and Bill Stulginsky.

Marian Catholic High School opened its 71st school year in September with an enrollment of 283 students in grades nine to 12.
