Carbon County high school columnists ready to start reporting

High school columnists are ready to start reporting from schools in Carbon County, coordinated by Sue Ann Gerhard of the Carbon Career & Technical Institute.

“As coordinator of the “Student Column, I am excited to begin our third year informing our residents in Carbon County of the happenings in our schools,” Gerhard said.

Each week students from Jim Thorpe, Lehighton, Palmerton, Panther Valley, Weatherly and Carbon Career & Technical Institute will be submitting information from their respective schools.

“They will be sharing exciting events, accomplishments and stories that highlight the creativity and hard work of our students,” Gerhard said. “Whether it’s sports, arts, or community service, there’s always something inspiring happening in our classrooms.”

Meet the students:

Hello, my name is Serenity Houston and I am a junior in the Culinary Arts Department.

I’m an individual who likes to write, listen to music, make animations for fun, hang out with my friends, and make people smile.

I hope to make myself, my family, and many other people around me happy while writing for the newspaper. The excitement I get when I write is something I wish to spread to many other people through my mood, funny nature, and awesome attitude.

I can’t wait to start writing these mini-articles so I can finally start the fun!
