Minor party candidates seize votes in our counties

Not all eyes were focused in Tuesday’s General Election on Republican and Democratic candidates for the five major contests — president, U.S. senator, Pennsylvania attorney general, Pa. auditor general and Pa. treasurer.

In fact, thousands of voters in the Times News coverage area opted to vote for candidates other than those in the two major political parties.

Here’s a look at votes that went to other party candidates in the five races Tuesday.

U.S. President

Chase Oliver (Lib) — Carbon, 169; Lehigh, 837; Monroe, 397; Northampton, 800; and Schuylkill, 296.

Jill Stein (Grn) — Carbon, 121; Lehigh, 1,398; Monroe, 427; Northampton, 890; and Schuylkill, 200.

U.S. Senate

John C. Thomas (Lib) — Carbon, 493; Lehigh, 2,442; Monroe, 1,114; Northampton, 1,943; and Schuylkill, 17.

Leila Hazon (Grn) — Carbon, 265; Lehigh, 2,381; Monroe, 968; Northampton, 1,552; and Schuylkill, 398.

Marty Selker (Cst) — Carbon, 117; Lehigh, 567; Monroe, 317; Northampton, 431; and Schuylkill, 261.

Pa. Attorney General
