Meuser wins by a 2-1 margin in 9th District

In the U.S. 9th Congressional District balloting in Tuesday’s General Election, Republican Rep. Dan Meuser scored a convincing 2-1 win over Democratic challenger Amanda R. Waldman of Mill Creek Township.

Meuser easily won his fourth two-year term in Washington by an overall unofficial margin of 264,138 to 105,329.

“I am grateful to the people of Pennsylvania’s 9th District for entrusting me once again to represent our community in Washington,” Meuser said. “When I first ran for office, I promised to deliver the best constituent services in Congress, and I am confident we’ve fulfilled that pledge. My team and I remain committed to providing top-tier services to the residents of our region to ensure their needs are met effectively and in a timely manner.”

The difference mirrored the 2022 election in which the two candidates went head to head, when Meuser won 209,185 to 92,622.

Tuesday, the congressman, who resides in Jackson Township, won each of 10 counties that comprise the 9th District.

It includes all of Bradford, Columbia, Lebanon, Montour, Northumberland, Schuylkill, Sullivan and Wyoming counties and parts of Berks, Luzerne and Lycoming counties.

Meuser said his priority remains pursuing legislation that is in the best interest of the vast majority of Americans.

“That includes growing our economy, securing our border, promoting American energy dominance, and restoring peace through strength,” he said. “I’ll continue working to advance common-sense solutions that strengthen our economy, create jobs, make the cost-of-living more affordable, and keep our communities safe.”

Meuser was first elected to congress in 2018 and represented Carbon and Schuylkill counties before the district boundaries were changed to relocate Carbon in the 7th District.

Results elsewhere, including the election of Donald Trump as president, Meuser said, will allow for unified Republican leadership, which he said will help “advance policies that promote fiscal responsibility, reduce burdensome regulations, curb illegal immigration and defend our national security.”

“Together, with President Trump’s leadership, we will pursue an agenda that puts America and working families first,” Meuser added.

The breakdown of his impressive 10-county win includes: Berks, 20,881 to 9,024; Bradford, 22,958 to 7,280; Columbia, 21,492 to 10,015; Lebanon, 48,351 to 22,964; Luzerne, 17,477 to 6,349; Lycoming, 24,306 to 11,341; Montour, 5,076 to 2,053; Northumberland, 30,539 to 12,027; and Schuylkill, 43,879 to 13,345.

Before being elected to the congress, Meuser served as the secretary of Revenue in the Cabinet of former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett. Waldman is a financial representative in the Medicare industry.

All votes are unofficial.
