The rich history of the No. 9 Coal Mine in Lansford will be the topic of a presentation aimed at preserving the history of mining in Pennsylvania.

State Rep. Keith McCall will be joined by the Anthracite Living History Group and the Coal Miners Commemorative Postage Stamp at the presentation.

David Kuchta, president of the Panther Creek Foundation, will detail the foundation’s efforts to establish the No. 9 Museum, while Joe Keating will provide two live presentations of the Breaker Boys dressed in period clothing.

Tours that will go 1,600 feet into the depths of the coal mine will be offered.

The presentations are aimed at securing a commemorative coal miners stamp.
