State police at Bethlehem

State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following incidents:

• A 38-year-old man from Kutztown was committed to the Lehigh County Prison, Allentown, after an incident at 8:11 a.m. Oct. 10 at Route 309 and Country Road in Heidelberg Township.

Police said they observed a mini-motorbike driving on the shoulder on Route 309 and initiated a traffic stop, at which time they identified the Kutztown man and learned that he was in possession of homemade explosive devices and a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, taking him into custody.

Police said the explosives were removed and retained by members of the state police’s Hazardous Device and Explosives Section unit.

• Jennifer Miller, 49, of Schnecksville, was cited for terroristic threats after police were called to an incident at 9:38 a.m. June 30 at 4650 Main St., North Whitehall Township.

Police said the incident involved a 69-year-old woman from Allentown.

• A 53-year-old woman from Germansville was targeted in an attempted theft incident police were called to at 2:16 p.m. Oct. 15 at 7148 Oriole Road, Heidelberg Township.

She told police someone tried to make a $780 transaction from her business account to an unknown Citi Bank account.

• A 52-year-old man from Shoemakersville was committed to the Lehigh County Prison, Allentown, following his arrest on a weapons charge at 3:57 p.m. Oct. 7.

Police were called to a report of a man possibly trespassing on a property along Route 100 in Heidelberg Township. A query resulted in police determining that there were active warrants issued against the man.

Police then learned the man had a weapon in his possession, arresting him on charges of “firearms not to be possessed.”

• Edwin Davila Rodriguez, 39, of Slatedale, was arrested on charges of simple assault, resisting arrest and false imprisonment after police were called to an incident at 3:13 a.m. Oct. 20 at 4033 W. Grant St., Washington Township.

Police said a 30-year-old woman from Slatedale told police she and Rodriguez were involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical when he grabbed her by the hair, puller her out of bed, ripped her nightgown and began punching her in the arm, chest and back. The woman told police she locked herself in a bathroom and called police.

They said Rodriguez made attempts to break into the bathroom but failed to do so.

Police said after they took him into custody, he began to resist three troopers, one of whom sustained a laceration of the left hand.

• Police are investigating an indecent assault incident involving an 11-year-old girl from Slatington.

The girl alleged her mother’s boyfriend touched her inappropriately at a property on Rising Sun Road, North Whitehall Township.

• Police said that Kaitlyn Whiteman, 28, of Lansford, was cited for harassment by physical contact after police responded to an incident at 4:44 a.m. Oct. 7.

Whiteman punched a 31-year-old man from Lafayette, New Jersey, in the face several times, causing cuts to his lips and gums, according to police.

The incident took place at 1880 Steelstone Road, Hanover Township.

• Police are investigating a criminal mischief incident that was reported at 3:27 p.m. Oct. 12 at a property on Rising Sun Road, North Whitehall Township.

A 62-year-old Slatington man reported his plastic mailbox was knocked over on two occasions. Damage was estimated at $100.

• Police were called to an incident at 3:12 p.m. Aug. 30 at a property on Wellington Circle, North Whitehall Township, resulting in Rebecca Ostolaza, 45, of Laurys Station, being charged with assault with a weapon.

They said her 49-year-old husband, of Allentown, was slashed.

Police said they were contacted by the couple’s daughter, who asked to check on the welfare of her mother. Upon arriving at the home, police said they saw that Rebecca Ostolaza had injuries to her lip and left eye. She told police her husband struck her in the mouth with an open hand when an argument escalated into a confrontation. The next day, she said, an argument took place over her injuries, which led him to punching her in the eye.

The woman told police she slashed him with a knife out of fear and frustration, causing an injury to his thigh and resulting in her arrest.

• A 37-year-old Walnutport woman was targeted in a criminal mischief incident that police were called to at 2:29 a.m. Aug. 14 at a property on Steelstone Road, Hanover Township.

Police said they arrested Alexander Gutierrez, 29, of Allentown, after it was determined he damaged two passenger-side windows on the woman’s 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe.

• Armauni Brown, 30, of Dillsburg, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 9:17 p.m. Sept. 29.

She was stopped in a 2017 Dodge Durango for a traffic violation, after which time police said she showed signs of impairment during standardized field sobriety tests that were administered to her.
