The Carbon County Commissioners acted on or discussed the following items during their weekly meeting on Thursday:
• Approved a grant application to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency for continuing the County Adult Probation and Parole Grant for the improvement of adult probation services through the reimbursement of eligible salaries for professional staff. The grant period would be July 1 through June 30, 2025. The application amount is $77,723.
• Authorized the advertisement for accepting bids for a parcel of land located on Princeton Avenue, Palmerton.
• Approved a one-year software support agreement with Keystone Fire and Security of Allentown at the correctional facility at a total cost of $2,963.
• Approved a renewal of agricultural operations agreement between the county and Lil-Rus Farms for three years, beginning Jan. 6, 2025.
• Approved a quote from Paramount Abstract Inc. of Jim Thorpe to perform lien searches for the 2024 Upset Tax Sale overbids at a price of $80 per search. This action is for the Tax Claim Bureau.
• Approved a quote from Paramount Abstract Inc. of Jim Thorpe to perform title searches for the 2025 Judicial Sale at a price of $180 per search.
Personnel
• Resignation: Joshua F. Thamarus of Lansford, sergeant, corrections, effective Oct. 18.
• Courts change of status: Lauren E. Beal of Palmerton, from law clerk (temporarily) to law clerk, court administration, effective Oct. 11.
• Sheriff appointment: Diane Schardt-Lambert of Lehighton, administrative assistant, effective Oct. 28.
