Legion event
The West End Memorial American Legion Post 927, Gilbert, will hold its monthly karaoke night on Friday, beginning at 7 p.m. The event will run through 11 p.m., with dinner specials.
QV workshops
Quiet Valley Living Historical Farm is offering a day of holiday workshops Saturday from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

All Saints Day
Although the church office of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, will be closed Friday there will be worship services for All Saints Day. The first Mass will be at 8.m., with the Adoration beginning after that Mass.
At 12:10 p.m. there will be an All Saints Mass again. At 3 p.m. is Divine Mercy Chaplet.
The final All Saints Day Mass will be at 7 p.m.
Garden closing
The Garden of Giving reports that “over 10,000 pounds of produce was distributed to C.A.M.E., S.F.R.C. PVEN, Five Loaves, Salvation Army and many families in need.”
Garlic planting was a success on Oct. 19; it was the last planting of the year.
The garden closes effective Friday.
However, volunteers are still needed for office work, which must be done year-round. Anyone who can offer their help for four hours a week would be appreciated. Also needed are a volunteer coordinator, a grant writer and someone to do lawn maintenance.

All Souls Day
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will celebrate a Mass at 9 a.m. Saturday, All Souls Day.
Fall bazaar
Layman’s Fellowship of St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown, is hosting its fall bazaar from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday.
There will be a dine-in menu, raffle prizes, bake sale, soup sale, Pennsylvania Dutch auction and an introduction to North Pole Mercantile.
Folks can also order filling for Nov. 26.
Owls of Pa.
Pocono Wildlife Rehab is bringing live owls to Kettle Creek on Running Valley Road on Saturday. The program will run 11 a.m.-1 p.m. People “can learn the incredible way owls thrive and survive”
There is a small cost, and other donations are welcome.
People must preregister for the program at 570-629-3061.

Basket raffle
The Buena Vista Cemetery group is hosting a basket raffle at the West End Fire Company in Brodheadsville from 1-3 p.m. Saturday to benefit the cemetery. Doors open at noon, and the drawings are at 3 p.m. Refreshments will be available.
Pork & kraut
Effort UMC is hosting a pork and sauerkraut dinner from 4-6:30 p.m. Saturday. Costs are the same as last year and children 3-12 receive a complimentary meal.
Rosary Rally
At 5 p.m. Saturday, Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is hosting a Rosary Rally in support of the Diocesan Rosary Crusade.
The church is offering an evening with dinner at 5 p.m., a movie, “Pray: The Story of Patrick Peyton” at 5:45, both in the church hall; and praying the rosary at 7 in the main church.
Block shoot
The public is welcome to the Kunkletown Rod & Gun Club 12-gauge shotgun only block shoot and meat raffle Sunday. Activities begin at 11 a.m. at 122 Gun Club Lane, Saylorsburg.

Veterans parade
The Monroe County Veterans Association is hosting a Veterans Day parade on Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m. with opening ceremonies. The parade begins at 1:15 p.m. and ends at 2 p.m.
Closing ceremonies will be at Dansbury Park and will include a tricky tray and a 50/50 drawing.
The rain date is Nov. 10.
Annual enrollment
Medicare annual enrollment is now open and continues to Dec. 7. People can get free counseling to help them at local Senior Centers. For the West End, it is at Zion Lutheran. Call the Monroe County Area Agency on Aging at 570-420-3735 to book an appointment.
AA meetings
Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, hosts Alcoholics Anonymous meetings every Monday at 7:30 p.m., while McMichaels UMC offers such gatherings on Wednesdays at noon and every Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
There is no charge for a class. All meetings are confidential. If you or someone you know needs help, feel free to attend.
MC Seniors
A reminder that Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, hosts Monroe County Seniors meetings Wednesdays and Fridays at 9 a.m. Friday’s meal choices are balsamic chicken or salami and mozzarella.

Volunteer dinner
Monroe County Habitat for Humanity has announced its Volunteer Appreciation Dinner for 6 p.m. Wednesday at Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort.
The evening will include dinner, raffles, music and an awards ceremony.
Anyone who has volunteered within the last year can attend for free. Additional tickets can be purchased through the website.

Grief support
The Western Pocono Community Library has partnered with St. Luke’s Hospice to offer free monthly adult grief support. Sign-up is not needed and these groups are free and open to everyone.
Meetings will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 13 and Nov. 27 (Grief at the Holidays session), and Dec. 11. For more information, contact St. Luke’s Hospice Bereavement Team at 484-526-2499.
Habitat helps
Monroe County Habitat for Humanity is participating in a fundraising effort initiated by Habitat for Humanity International.
The local unit has donated $500 to the International Habitat unit, and Monroe’s Executive Director Scott Fabian reminds folks that, “Anyone wishing to donate directly can do so at habitat.org/hurricanehelene”

Via the Seniors Express out of Monroe County’s Area Agency of Aging comes news of four support groups that can help families. They are: PA Caregivers Support Program, which can reduce stress on caregivers 55+ that reside in the same household (call 570-420-3735 for more information); Alzheimers Support Group, which meets at Shawnee Ridge Elementary School the second Monday of the month (call Jennifer Kautz at 570-517-3735 for more information); Dementia Support Group, which meets monthly at Hughes Library (call Barbara Van Nortwick at 570-236-3380 for more information); and Parkinson’s Support Group, which meets at noon the third Friday in East Stroudsburg University’s Monroe Room (call Pam Galina at 570-422-3247 for more information).
OTOH fall drive
Operation: Touch of Home is holding its fall drive to send items to troops stationed overseas. The drive is at Gilbert ShopRite from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 23. The list is quite long but does specify no glass containers.
Donation categories include food and drink; hygiene items; certain activity items; and batteries.

Dinner and auction
Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, is holding its spaghetti dinner and silent auction from 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23.
Knights event
The Knights of Columbus Council 7141 is sponsoring a family pasta and meatball award dinner from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Nov. 24. Tickets must be purchased in advance, but children 12 and under can eat for free.
The event offers music, door prizes, awards and raffles.
Save the date
Operation: Touch of Home is asking people to save the date of Dec. 15, because that is when the Kindred family has designated the group as the respective nonprofit all volunteer organization of choice for this year’s Christmas lights event. Donations are greatly appreciated and can be dropped off when people drive by or stop in to see the lights.
Santa will be there as well, with cookies and hot chocolate.
