Polk Park
The Polk Township Park Committee meeting is on the calendar for 6 p.m. Thursday.
Trunk or Treat
Middlecreek Christian Church, Kresgeville, is hosting its first ever Trunk or Treat from 2-4 p.m. Saturday. There will be games, costumes, doughnuts, cookies, apple cider and candy. There is no charge.
Soup pickup
Effort UMC will be waiting for the folks who ordered soup from the church to come pick up their orders Sunday.
Help needed
The Supplemental Food Resource Center at Effort UMC will be open from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday.
It is looking for donations of holiday foods such as canned vegetables, including corn, green beans, carrots, beets, yams, cranberry sauce, etc., instant mashed potatoes and free turkey/hams.
PVEN needs
The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network has needs for its food pantry clients. Among them are turkeys and turkey breasts, canned yams, cranberry sauce, gravy, stuffing, cornbread mix, french-fried onions, pancake mix and syrup.
Shelf-stable donations can be dropped off 24 hours a day in the teal and yellow covered bin outside the food pantry.
Perishable donations can be brought to the pantry during office hours by appointment.
Trunk or Treat
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, is hosting its annual Trunk or Treat event at 2 p.m. Sunday. The church’s youth group will have a trunk. Donations of wrapped candy can be dropped off at the church office.
Polk Township
The next meeting of the Polk Township Board of Supervisors is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Pie crust sale
Zion Lutheran Church’s orders for already rolled-out flaky homemade pie crusts in a 9-inch aluminum pie pan continues. Great for freezing until holiday baking. Pick up dates are Thursday, Nov. 7, from 1-4 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 10, from 9-11 a.m.

Fall Bazaar set
Layman’s Fellowship of St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown, is hosting its Fall Bazaar from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Nov. 2.
There will be a dine-in menu, raffle prizes, bake sale, soup sale, Pennsylvania Dutch auction and an introduction of North Pole Mercantile.
People can also order filling for Nov. 26.
Basket raffle
The Buena Vista Cemetery group is hosting a basket raffle at the West End Fire Company in Brodheadsville from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 2. The drawing will be at 3 p.m. Refreshments will be available. Doors open at noon for the event, which will benefit the Buena Vista Cemetery.
Pork and sauerkraut
Effort UMC is hosting a pork and sauerkraut dinner from 4-6:30 p.m. Nov. 2. For costs, call the church at 570-629-1890. Children 3 to 12 get a complimentary meal.
Meals include roast pork loin, mashed potatoes, vegetable, applesauce, roll, homemade desserts, coffee, tea and other beverages.
The church is handicapped accessible.
Block shoot set
The Kunkletown Rod & Gun Club is holding its next block shoot and meat raffle Nov. 3, beginning at 11 a.m., at 122 Gun Club Lane, Saylorsburg.
It is a 12-gauge shotgun only event. The public is welcome.

Volunteer event
Monroe County Habitat for Humanity is hosting its volunteers of the last year for free at its annual Volunteer Dinner, beginning at 6 p.m. Nov. 6, at the Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort. It will be an evening of fun to celebrate the volunteers.

Designer Purse Bingo
The Western Pocono Memorial Park Committee is hosting a designer purse bingo on Nov. 17 at the West End Fire Company, Route 715, Brodheadsville. Doors open at noon and bingo starts at 1 p.m.
For tickets cost, which include 20 games of regular bingo plus four specials, and other information, call 570-992-5721.
Refreshments including turkey barbecue, hot dogs, pulled pork, pierogies, homemade soup, baked goods and drinks will be available.
All proceeds will benefit the Western Pocono Memorial Park in Kunkletown. The park on Molasses Valley Road has two softball fields, an all-purpose field, basketball court, playground and picnic pavilion.
The next phase of improvements includes upkeep of walking trail; purchase and installation of additional playground equipment; and continued regular maintenance. The committee is grateful for the continued support of the Western Pocono Memorial Park.
Free dinner
Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, is hosting its next free community drive-thru hot meal from 5-6 p.m. Nov. 20.
Youth bake sale
The Effort UMC Youth Group members, the Wavewalkers, are holding a holiday bake sale. Being offered are pumpkin pie, apple crumb pie, pumpkin bread (loaf) and chocolate chip cookie bar tray for preordering.
Order forms are on the church’s Welcome Center.
The deadline to order is Nov. 17. Pickup is set for Nov. 24.
OTOH event
Operation Touch of Home reminds all that the Touch of Home Fall drive is set for 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 23, at Gilbert ShopRite.
Donations can also be dropped off at the American Legion Post Home on Fairgrounds Road in Gilbert.
The day’s “Pack the Mack” will be at the Legion. There is a list of suggested items that troops overseas would appreciate. However, no glass containers or aerosols and no liquids more than 16 ounces can be accepted.
Supper, auction
Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, is holding a spaghetti supper and silent auction from 4-7 p.m. Nov. 23.
It is a double benefit for Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network and Zion’s efforts to replace the church steeple.
Dinner includes spaghetti, homemade meatballs, salad, bread, drinks and homemade desserts.
People can enjoy dinner and place a bid on a gift item. Bids will be drawn starting at 6 p.m. but winners don’t have to be present to win.
