Trinity Happenings

Sunday worship with festival Holy Communion and Gospel procession at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins at 9:30 a.m. Synodically Approved Lay Minister Kathy Long presides. Congregational fellowship begins at 10:30 a.m. in Luther Hall.

Weekly Sunday Church School for students ages 3 through grade 6, and confirmation preparatory classes for students in 7-8 grades begin at 10:45 a.m. Youth group for students grades 7-12 meet at noon. Lunch is provided by adviser Alex Haggerty.

The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive supplemental food.

The Trinity Thrift Store hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesdays; 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours. The thrift closes at 3 p.m. today. Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/trinitythriftstore.

Looking ahead is a free movie night on Nov. 16 in Luther Hall. Dr. Seuss’s “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” starring Jim Carrey, will be shown at 7 p.m. Popcorn, snacks and drinks will be available for purchase to benefit projects of Trinity’s Youth Group. All are welcome to attend. Please use the Iron Street entrance.

Christ Evangelical

Christ Evangelical Free Church, 2420 Blakeslee Blvd., Dr., West in Lehighton holds weekly worship service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Sunday school for children and youth every Sunday at 11 a.m., except the first Sunday of the month.

Harvest Fair for children 3 years to sixth grade at Christ Evangelical Free Church will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 23.

Sister Chix, a support group for widows and divorced women, is held the last Sunday of each month at noon. Bring a lunch, but dessert will be provided. To attend, call 570-386-4547. Enter through the lower parking lot entrance.

ESL classes are held at 6:30 p.m. every Monday through May 19. To register, call the church office. Enter through the upper parking lot.

Ladies’ Bible study is held every Tuesday at 7 p.m. and every Friday at 10 a.m. Study is called “Praying with Power.”

Men’s Bible workshop is the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.

AWANA — Kids Bible Clubs begins in September. It is held every Wednesday at 6 p.m. AWANA is open to children ages 3 to 12th grade. To register, visit https://christfc.net/awana-bible-club-2/.

Boundaries Book Study for adults every Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. Lower parking entrance.

A Prayer Shawl Ministry for those who love to knit and crochet is held the second Saturday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m.

A Food Bank takes place the third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m.-noon. Please bring a driver’s license or some other form of ID.

BECC

Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, 222 North St., Lehighton, will host Sunday Morning Worship at 10:45 a.m.

• Sunday: 9:30 a.m. Sunday school. The Book of James will be studies.

• Thursdays: Men’s Bible Study, 5 a.m.

• Nov. 7: 11 a.m. Women’s group will begin. All women in the community are welcome.

SamaritanPurse.org shoe boxes are available to be filled.

Pray shawls and lap robes are available as a ministry for individuals in need.

St. John’s

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mahoning, 826 Mahoning Dr. W., Lehighton will hold worship service at 10:45 a.m. Sunday in the Sanctuary with Holy Communion.

Sunday school for ages 3 to confirmation age will be held Oct. 27, Nov. 10 and 24 at 9:30 a.m.

Dinkey Memorial Church has a food cupboard available to those in need of supplemental food resources. It is available to members of Dinkey Memorial and St. John’s, and to residents of East Penn Township. The distribution is the third Thursday of every month from 3:30-5 p.m. in Dinkey’s Social Room, located below the sanctuary. If you or anyone you know would benefit from receiving food from the Community Cupboard, please speak with Pastor Tony.

A breakfast will be held from 8-10 a.m. on Oct. 27 in honor of Mahoning Township’s first responders.

A bus trip to “Noah” at Sight & Sound Theatres is being scheduled for May 7. More information will be announced in the future.

Ben Salem UCC

Ben Salem UCC, 1965 Church Hill Road, Lehighton will hold Sunday Worship at 8 a.m. with a Praise Band and at 10:15 a.m. for a traditional service. Communion service will be the first Sunday of each month.

Sunday school is held at 9 a.m. and is open to anyone from nursery through youth.

• Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., Senior Choir Practice.

• Thursday at 6:45 p.m., Handbell Choir Practice.

Youth group is collecting items for Samaritan Purse shoe boxes. Deadline for donations is Nov. 17.

• Spaghetti dinner: 4-7 p.m. Oct. 26. Dinner includes spaghetti, homemade meatballs, salad, bread, homemade dessert and beverage.
