Northwestern will have three No. 1 seeds when the District 11 playoffs begin this week in boys soccer, girls soccer, field hockey and volleyball.

After capturing Colonial League titles, the Tigers were awarded top seeds in boys and girls soccer and field hockey.

Marian’s volleyball squad also enters district play as a No. 1 seed, looking to gain a Class 1A championship.

In all, 16 Times News area teams will be competing in the four different sports. Action begins today with four local teams (Jim Thorpe and Lehighton boys soccer, and Lehighton and Northwestern volleyball) kicking off their respective tournaments.

Champions will be crowned next week.
