Palmerton to start up annual leaf collection
Palmerton Borough plans to begin its annual leaf collections on Tuesday.
Collection will run through Nov. 30, according to the borough office.
Do not rake leaves into the roadway; leaves should be placed along the curb so that they do not scatter before they are picked up. Alleys will be picked up with the same street schedule.
It is not necessary to bag leaves, but vehicles are to be removed so that leaves are accessible for the pickup machine.
Materials for vegetation disposal at Third Street garage must come from a property in Palmerton Borough.
Branches, limbs or small trees must be one-half inch to 9 inches in diameter.
Lawn and hedge clippings may be placed in the designated area (includes grass and leaves).
The borough does not accept contractor disposal, stumps, milled lumber, landscape or railroad ties, rock or dirt, brick or block, any manufactured board or product, anything entangled with poison ivy, or vine clippings.
Disposal of any prohibited item will be considered dumping and dealt with under Palmerton and Pennsylvania littering laws. The disposal area is monitored by surveillance cameras.
Here’s the weekly leaf pickup schedule:
• Mondays: Residence Park and areas north of Columbia Avenue and east of Third Street.
• Tuesdays: North sides of Lehigh and Franklin avenues.
• Wednesdays: South sides of Lafayette and Columbia avenues and south sides of 100 to 200 blocks of Princeton, Edgemont and Harvard avenues.
• Thursdays: North sides of Lafayette and Columbia avenues and north sides of 100 and 200 blocks of Princeton, Edgemont and Harvard avenues.
• Fridays: Avenues A and B, Delaware Avenue and south sides of Lehigh and Franklin avenues.
