West Penn Police plan drug take back

The West Penn Township Police Department will participate in National Drug Take Back Day on Oct. 26 and will be on hand for a license plate replacement event on Oct. 17.

Sergeant-in-Charge John Kaczmarczyk said the take-back event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the police department. A secure drop box will be available beginning at 6 a.m.

The event provides a safe way to dispose of expired or no longer needed medications.

Those who can’t attend, Kaczmarczyk said, should call the police department to make arrangements.

The licensed plate replacement event will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. at the township municipal building. It is open to those whose license plates have become illegible.

Officers will inspect plates and assist with paperwork. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will issue replacements at no charge.

In other police business, the department submitted its September activities report. During the month, officers patrolled 4,195 miles; issued 87 citations; responded to eight motor vehicle crashes, and addressed 120 calls for service.
