The Schuylkill County Historical Society is hosting the following events:

• Former Pennsylvania Paranormal Research Team Director Richard Bigg will share tales of sorcerers, hex cats and more from his new book, “Magic in the Mountains,” at 7 p.m. Oct. 12, at the Schuylkill County Historical Society. For more details, contact the society.

• 1920s film footage of New Philadelphia will be presented by retired grocer Bill McMullen and historian Helen Smeltz at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 17, at the Schuylkill County Historical Society.
