The Hometown Volunteer Fire Co. No. 1 held a Fire Prevention Night Tuesday from its Rush Township headquarters. The fire company, along with the Coaldale Fire Company and Tamaqua Ambulance, allowed attendees to get a close look at emergency response vehicles. A mock car crash was held, and children enjoyed a “smoke room” obstacle course. Free hot dogs, popcorn and cupcakes were available.
The Schuylkill County Emergency Management Agency had a booth. Earlier this week, the Hometown fire company visited St. Jerome Regional School to present a fire prevention program to students in prekindergarten to eighth grade.
