October 10, 1959 — Pete Weiksner catches a pair of touchdown passes to help Jim Thorpe gain a 27-13 victory over Nescopek. Weiksner, who ends the contest with 92 receiving yards, snares a 25-yard scoring toss from Ralph Lennon in the third quarter and pulls in a 30-yard TD strike from Frank Kunkle. The Olympians also receive two touchdowns from Terry Watto, who reaches the end zone on runs of 21 and 10 yards. Jim Borosh sets up one of the Watto scores by breaking free for a 36-yard pick-up. Thorpe’s defense, meanwhile, holds their opponent to just 116 yards and forces four turnovers.
