Eight youths who have been serving customers of the Times News as carriers were recognized for their “outstanding achievements” by the newspaper during a ceremony held Satuday morning.

Tony Jordan of Walnutport and Jane Valentine of Tamaqua were named top recipients of the honors, being named senior carrier of the year and junior carrier of the year, respectively. They were presented U.S. Savings Bonds as their awards.

Runners-up in the senior division were Robert Kanick of Summit Hill, Glenn Hrinkonich of Jim Thorpe and Mike Burawski of Hometown, while the runners-up in the junior program were Lori Bailey of Lehighton, John Bartelt of Jim Thorpe and Robert Wanuga of Lansford. They each received cash awards from the paper.
